What We Believe

What We Believe

The Bible: We believe that the entire Bible is the verbally inspired word of God, absolutely without error.
God: We believe that the God of the Bible is the Triune God--one in essence, but in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit.
Man: We believe that since the Fall (Genesis 3:1-7) all men are born in sin and are corrupt and sinful and without free will in all spiritual matters.
Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior for all human beings, whom God in his infinite love sent into the world to save all humanity; that he is true God and also true man, who perfectly obeyed God's law for us, and also by his sufferings and death paid the penalty for the sins and guilt of the entire world.
Salvation: We believe that a person is justified (declared righteous in God's sight) entirely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as his or her own personal Savior, and without any works or merits of his or her own; and that this is the only way of salvation.
The Church: We believe that the  universal Church, properly speaking, is the "communion of saints" i.e. the sum total of all those who believe and trust in Christ as their Savior. We believe that individual Christians should be and remain members of a local congregation which adheres to the word of God in teaching and practice.
Baptism: We believe that baptism is a means of grace which confers forgiveness of sins and eternal life upon the person baptized, and that children are to be baptized.
The Lord's Supper: We believe that the true body and blood of Christ are present in and with the bread and wine of the sacrament, and that this also is a means of grace which confers forgiveness of sins to all who come in penitence and faith.
Second Coming of Christ: We believe that Christ will visibly return to the earth on the last day to judge the world, and that at this time all the dead will rise to be reunited with their bodies, and be separated either to eternal life or eternal damnation.
